A wonderful book for someone who desires a greater understanding of Lincoln's life, which begins with him as a child. Although slow moving and dry at times, the insight into Lincoln as a man and as The President was well worth my listening time. Praise “A splendid book so wonderful I am sick with envy Land of Lincoln is a book that teaches you more about Lincoln in its way than a five-volume biography would, and more about America today than almost any other book I can think of.” —John Podhorezt, New York Post “There are at le books on Abraham Lincoln, and even his greatest enthusiasts won’t claim to.

Guelzo.

Barron's says: "More t books have already been written about Abraham Lincoln. But it took an economist to get the story right. The Real Lincoln, by Loyola College economics prof Thomas J. DiLorenzo, is this year's top pick in [Gene Epstein's] sixth annual review of Holiday Gifts that Keep on Giving, When It's the Thought that Counts."/10(29). The story begins as Lincoln arrives in Washington and ends after his assassination. Lincoln is portrayed as a three dimensional human being through the eyes of those around him: his friends, family, rivals, and those who plot to kill him. Threats to Lincoln's life began before he became President and he actually had to come to Washington secretly.
